Art Therapy & Clinical Counseling
All helping professionals know that no one intervention can be applied to all clients; they know that the best interventions are those that are tailored to clients' needs and their presenting situations. My methods include:
TALK
I use conventional talk therapy in my practice. Stories need to be told and descriptions need to be heard. Communication and understanding, rely on words. EMDR
is offered when it is appropriate and accepted by the client.Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing addresses trauma at the core using bilateral movement to access and reprocess memory. It is used worldwide in instances of natural and manmade disasters. Trauma is at the seat of many imbalances. COUNSELING
is viewed as a more practical approach, and less in-depth than therapy. It is considered a short term solution. |
ART THERAPY
Humans have expressed themselves with symbols throughout history. The origins of art therapy are in these visual records of self-expression and communication. Art therapists are professionals trained in both art and therapy. They are knowledgeable about human development, psychological theories, clinical practice, spiritual, multicultural and artistic traditions, and the healing potential of art. DREAMWORK
I use dreams in my practice because they are an area in which we have no control. The images are rich with information for the dreamer directly from Psyche. Dreams work with image through talk, image making, or both. |
